Bet on Yourself... There is No One Better to Bet ON - Part 2

Questions of the Week

When facing fear, what actions can you take so that you know no matter the situation, you are able to control your own results?

Where might there be an opportunity that you should consider if you lived with no fear?

If you knew no matter what that you could never fail, what would be the next step towards your goal?

Who else believes in the vision you are following to the point where it makes more sense to align together versus separately?

“Some people say I have attitude - maybe I do... but I think you have to. You have to believe in yourself when no one else does - that makes you a winner right there.” – Venus Williams

“It's difficult to believe in yourself because the idea of self is an artificial construction. You are, in fact, part of the glorious oneness of the universe. Everything beautiful in the world is within you.”– Russell Brand

If you didn’t read last week’s blog…. Stop… Go Back… and read it… When you bet on yourself there will be moments of doubt, fear, and numerous emotions that flood your senses, all attempting to keep you safe and protect you from the unknown.

When I left my role in 2009, I never realized what would happen next. Within 3 days after leaving a position of safety, my phone rang and on the other end was a super-human woman named Susan Miller. To this day that lady is one of the people I hold nearest and dearest to my heart and forever changed our lives. Susan was the Team Leader of a real estate Brokerage in Edmond Oklahoma. She created a position that didn’t previously exist in order to fit what I could do within the needs of her business. Since that role couldn’t support what I was ultimately wanting to make for an income, she reached out to her circle of 5 (We become the sum of the five people we hang out with most) and this person happened to be Mo Anderson, the Vice Chairman of Keller Williams Realty International. Mo introduced and from what I learned later encouraged/insisted I was offered an opportunity to audition for a new program teaching and coaching with their internal coaching company. This program was intending to be delivered nationwide and had a tremendous upside should it take off. The writer of this program was another amazing person who’s spent years studying the potential of people, so I was extremely excited to be introduced to a lady by the name of Dianna Kokoszka. My audition was incredible! Incredibly bad! I made about every mistake that could be made… Dianna’s feedback wasn’t exactly complimentary, and as I recall, “You have a great radio voice,” was a highlight. She ultimately said yes when she didn’t have any reason to do so and gave me a shot when most people wouldn’t have. That opportunity is one that I’ll forever remember and be grateful to have been offered for the rest of my life. I resigned during an economic crisis and found my way to a huge career opportunity that lasted from 2009 until 2021. When you bet on yourself, amazing things can happen so long as you have faith to see it through.

“In sports, the only thing a player can truly control is effort. The same applies to business. The only thing any entrepreneur, salesperson or anyone in any position can control is their effort.” – Mark Cuban

No matter what happens on your own personal journey, all I can suggest is you continually bet on yourself. You can control your effort, what you learn, and can always choose to outwork any competitor. I’d bet on you every day if you promise to bet on yourself. Fear is the other guy’s problem. The more afraid he or she it, the more opportunity there is for you to win at the game of life and business.

Betting on yourself is not a one and done moment in time. Regardless of your level of success, there will be times when the have a choice to make, which will be to choose the safe option or again bet on yourself. Always bet on You!
